Well, God threw me another curve ball this past week! As finals approached, my clinical adviser informed me that our contacts in Uganda are unsure if they will be able to take students this year. These circumstances were completely unforeseen by all parties involved, but still my heart was broken. I had been looking forward to traveling to Africa, (or any 3rd world country), for what felt like my whole life and now I may not be traveling anywhere at all.

The following day, my adviser informed me of a spot open on the Belize rotation. She explained that the organization seemed to represent a lot of the same values as the one that attracted me to Uganda. After some research, I immediately felt a connection. Hillside is an amazing organization in rural Belize that works to provide medical care to a community extremely in need. They even venture out into farther to reach villages through their traveling clinic on the weekends! The organization is amazingly structured, utilizing medical practitioners and students from all around the world. And most importantly they are rooted in faith.

Their mission statement reads; "Hillside Health Care International is a faith inspired, non-profit organization dedicated to serving God by providing medical care, disease prevention, and health education to the people of Southern Belize."

Although this was not where I originally felt called, God has a funny way of working in His plan for you. So I'm off to Belize! And I couldn't be more excited.

I wanted to update everyone on my traveling plans because I have been SO blessed with your financial (and spiritual) support. As the country I'm traveling to changes, my mission to serve others in the name of God does not. I cannot thank each and every one of my supporters enough! (especially considering this rotation is over $2,000 more!). So stay tuned as more info comes along about Belize! It looks like I'll be leaving June 16th! Yep, right around the corner.

All of this change was really stressful for me to deal with at first, both financially and mentally. Eventually, I relaxed and remembered these words; "Where You go, I'll go. Where You stay I'll stay. Where You move I'll move. I will follow."
